Many Celtic fans have been discussing an update about Boli Bolingoli that recently emerged on social media.

Bolingoli, who is currently on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir, seems set for a return to Parkhead. Basaksehir manager Okan Buruk has made it clear that the defender was among a number of players who won’t be available for the side in the second half of the campaign (as per The Scottish Sun).

Buruk said: “We have three players who are almost certainly out for the season – Boli Bolingoli, Martin Skrtel and Junior Caicara. The situation is we want replacements urgently for those players.”

He is currently injured and he sustained an issue during a Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain.

This update was relayed on Facebook by Celtic News Now. Some Celtic fans were talking about the news and made their views clear about Bolingoli’s Parkhead return.

What did Celtic fans make of this news about Bolingoli?

Bolingoli was loaned out to Basaksehir in the summer of 2020. This came after the Belgian had broken quarantine rules during his time at Celtic. He had travelled to Spain without informing the club and later featured in a league game against Kilmarnock as well. Neil Lennon had criticised the player for his actions (as per The Guardian).

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

At Basaksehir, Bolingoli made 13 appearances in all competitions. He featured in the Champions League in games against Man Utd, PSG and RB Leipzig (as per Transfermarkt). Some other Celtic fans also discussed the news about the 25-year-old defender.

Some of these Celtic fans are fuming at the idea of the Belgian returning and they don’t want it to happen.

Celtic currently have at least two options for the left-back spot in Greg Taylor and Diego Laxalt and because of that, they may not need Bolingoli. The defender has been ruled out of the season because of the injury issue anyway, which suggests that he may not even play too much for the Bhoys.

So while it is understandable why Celtic fans are still angry at Bolingoli’s breach of quarantine rules, it seems as if he won’t feature prominently for them at least for some time.
