In-the-know podcaster @ExWHUemployee has recently dropped a big transfer claim regarding West Ham United’s Declan Rice amid his links with Chelsea.

One transfer link which does not seem to be going away is the one between the Blues and the Hammers’ English defensive midfielder.

According to a recent report by TalkSPORT, the Irons are ‘expecting’ a bid from Frank Lampard’s outfit for the 21-year-old middleman as he is ‘the only transfer Chelsea want’.

However, that is contrary to a claim from David Ornstein for The Athletic, as he stated that some of the Chelsea hierarchy have doubts about Rice’s ability (via Football.london).

In the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, though, @ExWHUemployee discussed the transfer link and made a big claim over a factor which may keep the Englishman at the London Stadium.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “I would say [Lampard is] very crucial [to Chelsea’s interest]. It’s no secret that Lampard and his assistant Jody Morris absolutely love Declan. They really want him to come to Chelsea.

“Yeah, I think Lampard is a big, big factor. I would say, from what I do know, his chances of getting sacked at the moment are okay. I don’t think he will get sacked yet.

“Whatever their fixtures are, I would say he’s probably got two or three, maybe four games left and if he doesn’t perform well in those, I would say he’s on very borrowed time.

“There’s actually some doubts in terms of whether they want to back him to sign players now; when that happens, you know you’re in a bit of trouble.

“I think for West Ham fans, to increase our chances of Declan staying, I think we want Lampard to get sacked.”

TIF Thoughts on what @ExWHUemployee said about Chelsea’s interest in Rice…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he believes the chances of West Ham keeping Rice will increase if Lampard is replaced by the Blues.

The West Ham insider also seemed to believe that the English manager needs to turn results around in the next four games or that speculation will become a reality.

Do you think Declan Rice will become a Chelsea player at some point?

No, not going to happen

Yes, it seems very likely

Over 17 Premier League appearances so far this season, West Ham’s 21-year-old midfielder has picked up an impressive 6.98/10 average rating, making him the joint-fourth-best performer for the club (per WhoScored).

So, it is clear to see that the Hammers would be losing one of their best players if he did depart for Chelsea.
