Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham United are in the process of sorting out a deal for Boulaye Dia.

West Ham United have found themselves short in the centre-forward department following the departure of Sébastien Haller to Ajax, but they are certainly making progress in trying to bring in his replacement.

Jones had previously revealed that Dia was on West Ham’s shortlist and had made an enquiry.

Speaking on the latest edition of Touchline Talk, Jones said that they are in the early stages of sorting out a deal for Dia, but that there is still some way to go.

He said: “I mean, Boulaye Dia is available at [around] 10 million less than the offer that they’re deemed to have made there and they still haven’t managed to agree terms there. As I understand it, talks are ongoing [on Monday] about whether they can make a breakthrough on Dia and what kind of terms will actually be needed personally, as well as any add-ons.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ claims on West Ham and Dia…

Jones did say earlier in the show that West Ham United typically have multiple deals on the go at once and seeing ‘which one progresses the best’, however that might not be the best position for them to be in right now.

Whilst West Ham might be picking up results in recent weeks, they haven’t been scoring in bunches, only scoring two or more once since the start of December and main centre-forward Michail Antonio only getting one of them.

So if West Ham are to take the next step forward under David Moyes, they really need to get the situation sorted out as soon as possible, and bring in someone who can take them to that next level in attack, and with 12 goals in 20 appearances so far this season, Dia could certainly fill that role.

And who knows, with West Ham flirting with a potential spot in Europe, he might be what they need to take them that one step closer.
