Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

On the subject of Lingard’s move to West Ham, Sherwood had this to say on the matter.

He said: “His game was all about legs, bursting from midfield, timing his runs, he’s a ball-carrier as well, can take the pressure off his defence and dribble from back to front.

“He’s a very good finisher when he gets in front of goal as well, so I think he’s a good signing for West Ham to add to what they’ve already got with [Tomas] Soucek and [Declan] Rice in the middle of the park.”

The Manchester United youth academy graduate has made a total of 210 senior appearances for the Red Devils in which he has managed to score 33 goals and provide 20 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Tim Sherwood’s comments on Lingard and his move to West Ham…

With Lingard having only played three games across the Carabao Cup and FA Cup so far this season, it would make sense for him to move to West Ham to get some playing time in the Premier League and help the east London club move forward with their season.

Also, with the 28-year-old, who is currently valued at £9 million, having made 24 senior England appearances, this means that he arrives in east London as a seasoned pro through the top-flight and European experience also under his belt. Therefore, he could well become a shrewd – albeit temporary – signing from David Moyes at West Ham, something which Sherwood clearly agrees with.
