In-the-know podcaster ExWHUemployee has recently revealed one of David Moyes’ potential plans if West Ham United sign Jesse Lingard.

According to a recent report by Sky Sports, the Hammers are interested in sealing the arrival of the English midfielder from Manchester United.

Supposedly, the London Stadium outfit has approached the Red Devils over a loan deal to see the 28-year-old switch Manchester for the capital.

Lingard has until the summer of 2022 on his existing deal at Old Trafford and a market value of £9m according to Transfermarkt.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, ExWHUemployee shed some light on a plan which Moyes may have for Lingard if he is signed.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “Lingard is obviously seen [as] that he can play across the midfield as well as central midfield, they almost see him a bit like a [Robert] Snodgrass replacement.

“Someone that can come in mainly for the wings but also can play in the centre. There is some talk that he could potentially also play up front.

“Mainly because Moyes has got a track record, as with [Marko] Arnautovic and [Michail] Antonio, of converting wingers to forwards.

“They believe that Lingard does have some of the traits that could be used in that role. He’s pacey, he runs a lot, he runs the channels, he is quite skilful, not a bad shot on him when needed.

“I don’t think he’s being [brought in] to be a striker, but with [Andriy] Yarmolenko, [Ademipo] Odubeko and potentially Lingard, there are some options that you could use if Antonio was injured.”

TIF Thoughts on what ExWHUemployee said about David Moyes’ plan for Lingard…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he believes that Moyes could be planning to make Lingard a striker if he moves to the London Stadium.

Do you think Jesse Lingard could be a good striker?

No, there's no chance

No, there's no chance

Yes, it seems possible

Yes, it seems possible

During his entire career, the 28-year-old midfielder has played as a centre-forward on just eight occasions, in those eight games, he has bagged two goals and provided no assists (according to Transfermarkt).

Antonio, meanwhile, has played 56 games as a centre-forward, in which he has scored 18 goals and provided six assists for teammates.

So, with Antonio having bagged a goal involvement every 2.3 games as a striker and Lingard every 4.0 matches, that may suggest deploying him up front may not be all that much of a good idea.
