West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has recently provided an injury update on Hammers youngster Mipo Odubeko.

David Moyes’ side recruited the young striker in October 2019 after his departure from Premier League gargantuan Manchester United (per Transfermarkt).

In the club’s announcement of Odubeko’s signing, it was claimed that he is a ‘prolific striker’ (per West Ham United).

That was after the ‘powerful centre-forward‘ netted 35 goals during his schoolboy years for the Red Devils and bagged on his U18 Premier League debut for them.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee provided an injury update on several players and he revealed the latest on Odubeko. (59:43)

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “Mipo’s now training. Mipo [Odubeko], I think his name is. He’s been actually training and as I said before, [he’s] targeting the cup game [for a return to action].”

TIF Thoughts on @ExWHUemployee’s Mipo Odubeko injury update…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, the 18-year-old striker is now back in training for West Ham following his injury issue.

The cup game which @ExWHUemployee is referring to is the FA Cup third-round tie with National League side Stockport County (per Transfermarkt).

With that game scheduled to take place on 11th January, that would suggest that the Irish attacker is nearing a return to full fitness very soon.

Would you like to see Mipo Odubeko feature against Stockport County if he's fit?

No, not worth the risk

Yes, would be good

During his time with the Hammers, Odubeko has been in fine form for the club’s academy sides as he has made seven appearances for the under-18s and bagged nine goals and two assists (per Transfermarkt).

He has also shown his ability for the under-23s, too, as in two matches for the older age group he has scored three goals.

So, hopefully, if the young striker is fit and given an opportunity by Moyes in the FA Cup game against Stockport, he can show his goalscoring ability.
