West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has claimed there is some truth in the Hammers’ transfer link with Spezia forward M’Bala Nzola.

According to journalist Armando Napoletano, as cited by Sport Witness, the Hammers are interested in recruiting the 24-year-old Frenchman.

However, David Moyes’ side is not the only interested party in the Premier League, as he also claimed that Fulham and Newcastle United are also keen.

Nzola has until the summer of 2023 on his existing deal with Spezia and a current market value of £3.6m according to Transfermarkt.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, ExWHUemployee claimed there is some truth in the transfer link between the Irons and the striker.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “[One] of the names that [has] been given to me in the last couple of days [is] a fella that plays in Italy for a team called Spezia Calcio.

“His name is M’Bala Nzola, he’s meant to be a bit like Didier Drogba in his physique and playing style.

“He was reported – might have been in Italy – to be linked with us, but I’ve had it given to me by a couple of people now, which makes me think there’s some legitimacy to it.”

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he believes that there is some truth in the transfer link with the French striker.

Would you like to see West Ham sign M'Bala Nzola?

No, he's not that good

Yes, he seems a talent

So far this season, the attacker has bagged nine goals and provided one assist in 13 Serie A appearances for Spezia (as per WhoScored).

Over those appearances, he has earned a solid 7.04/10 average rating, making him the best-performing player in his Italian club’s squad in the league.

If he was to repeat his form for West Ham in the Premier League, he would be the third-best performer in the squad this term behind only Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio.

So, that would seem to suggest that the striker could be a positive addition for Moyes.
