Former England international Rob Lee has suggested that Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus could be a good replacement for Dele Alli at Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a recent report by Sport1, Jose Mourinho’s side are interested in the £25.2m-rated German midfielder alongside several other big-name clubs across Europe.

The German outlet’s report also claims that the player has a release clause in his contract which will come into play in the summer which is somewhere in the region of €40m (£35.4m).

At the same time, there are also reports that Alli could be headed to Paris Saint-Germain on loan, however, that hinges on the north London club finding a replacement for him (per The Guardian).

In a recent interview with Football FanCast, Lee suggested that Neuhaus could be a suitable, long-term replacement for Tottenham’s English midfielder.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

He said: “He’s a great player. He gets forward and scores goals.

“Maybe Dele’s going to go in the summer, which he probably should do. Maybe he could be a replacement for Alli.”

TIF Thoughts on what Rob Lee said about Florian Neuhaus…

As can be seen in what the retired midfielder had to say, he believes that the German is a “great” player and that he could replace Alli in the summer as he should leave The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Who would you rather have playing for Spurs?

Certainly, the German has proven his ability in the Bundesliga this season after bagging three goals and four assists over 17 league appearances (as per WhoScored).

He has also shown his playmaking ability by averaging the third-most passes (52.5) and the fourth-most long balls (3.7) per league game in Monchengladbach’s squad.

Those statistics are far better than Alli’s in the Premier League – who has neither scored nor assisted – with the Englishman averaging 10.8 passes and zero long balls over four appearances, three of which were from the bench.

While it may be difficult to compare the two this season due to Alli’s lack of game time, it does certainly seem like Neuhaus is a talented 23-year-old.
