Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have recently reacted to a transfer link which has emerged linking Spurs with Marseille’s Morgan Sanson.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho’s side considered a move for the 26-year-old midfielder during the summer transfer window.

Spurs were supposedly not alone in their interest, with West Ham, Arsenal, Fulham, Burnley and Wolves also keen at the time, however, a move never materialised.

The report comes due to the fact that Dean Smith’s Aston Villa have ‘opened talks‘ with Marseille to seal the arrival of the Frenchman.

It is claimed that the Villans could ‘strike a bargain’ with the Ligue 1 outfit despite Sanson having been a key figure for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

A later report by the Daily Mail stated that Tottenham are currently involved in a ‘race’ to sign Sanson with Arsenal, West Ham and Villa.

The claim that Spurs were interested in the midfielder was shared on Twitter by Hotspur Related and it had lots of fans talking.

So far this season, the 26-year-old middleman has made 11 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille, in which he has scored two goals and provided three assists (per WhoScored).

His performances have been fairly decent for his French outfit, as the midfielder has earned a 6.84/10 average rating, making him the ninth-best performer for Villas-Boas’ side.

However, a couple of Spurs fans aired that they would not want to see the north London club sign Sanson.

As can be seen in these responses from Spurs fans, there was more of a positive reaction from them after the claim regarding Sanson emerged on Twitter.

However, it remains to be seen as to whether they’ll bring the midfielder to north London, with the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele already in the midfield ranks.
