Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest piece of transfer news concerning the north London club.

This comes after Spurs-focused Twitter account @TheSpursExpress shared a post on their page relaying news from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira (as per Estadio Deportivo).

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

The article claims that Spurs and fellow Premier League side Leicester City are interested in signing Olympique Marseille winger Florian Thauvin on a free transfer in the next summer transfer window and are one of the few clubs that could afford to lure him away from the Ligue 1 club.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this latest bit of transfer news.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say about this transfer link to Thauvin?

“Yes please, this guy is a machine on the right.”

@Rasmus_Wolves

“For free? why not”

@riko_z99

“Yes please!!! We need this kinda signing”

@Davidsquire92

“Yess please he would be our best rw”

@HamamTHFC

“yesss hes good”

@RoccethCrocceth

“yes”

@raymder

Thauvin originally signed to Marseille back in 2013 before joining Premier League side Newcastle United in 2015. After a couple of loan spells back at Marseille, Thauvin joined the French club on a permanent deal in 2017 for a fee of £9.9 million.

Overall, the 28-year-old, who is currently valued at £28.8 million, has made 264 appearances for Marseille in which he has managed to score 84 goals and provide 60 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Would you like to see Spurs sign Thauvin?

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Spurs fans would be very excited to see the winger join their club on a free transfer in summer.

In our view, with the Frenchman having failed to score a goal during his time at Newcastle, that throws up the question of whether or not Thauvin would be up for a return to England in the future.
