Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have recently flocked to some comments which were made by Jose Mourinho regarding Erik Lamela.

On Wednesday night, Spurs host Scott Parker’s Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an 8:15pm kick-off (per Premier League).

One player who there is a question mark hanging over for the game is Lamela, as the £14.4m-rated Argentine has not featured in Tottenham’s squad in their previous three games in all competitions (per Transfermarkt).

During his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of the Cottagers, the club’s Portuguese manager was asked about the winger (per football.london, live blog, 12:41, 12/01/21).

He said: “(Long pause) He is [available] but I don’t know, but I think you understand what I want to mean. He can be selected for tomorrow, he can. Legally he can but I still have a decision to make.”

These comments were relayed to Spurs fans on Twitter by Alasdair Gold and they had lots of fans talking.

Lamela has not been included in one of Spurs’ squads since it was revealed that he, along with Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso, broke the UK Government’s lockdown rules by attending a party (per BBC).

So far this season, Lamela has made six Premier League appearances for the north London club, in which he has neither scored nor assisted a goal (per WhoScored).

For his performances over the outings, he has earned an uninspiring 6.57/10 average rating, making him the 12th-best performer to feature for Spurs in the league.
