Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to news that Julian Araujo could be their first signing of the window.
According to a claim from Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Spurs are ‘about to finalise’ a move for American right-back Araujo from MLS side LA Galaxy. He will be the second right-back that the club have signed this season, having already signed Matt Doherty from Wolves back in the summer, and will be looking to fight it out for a place alongside the aforementioned Doherty and Serge Aurier.
However, Spurs fans didn’t seem too impressed with the news, as they took to social media to express their concern about making a move for a young American, with some questioning the league he’s coming from and whether or not he’s up to the task, comparing him with former Tottenham ‘flop’ DeAndre Yedlin:
“We’ve had a few Americans in the past…let’s hope this one pays off”
Will Spurs spend more than £15m this window?
Yes
No
Which just feels a little bit snobbish on the surface, and just because previous players haven’t worked out doesn’t mean this one won’t either.
