Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have flocked to a claim on Portuguese youngster Gedson Fernandes that was made by in-the-know journalist Fabrizio Romano.
According to a recent Twitter post by Romano, Serie A club Torino has opened talks to seal the arrival of the 22-year-old midfielder on loan.
Supposedly, Jose Mourinho’s side is ‘ready’ to let the player return to Benfica so he can make the switch to the Italian outfit.
Romano goes on to state that the final decision on Fernandes will be made next week.
This claim emerged despite the fact that Tottenham have a deal for the player until this summer and an option to make the move permanent at the end of his loan (per BBC).
Following Romano’s tweet, though, The Spurs Express shared the news to supporters and it had lots of them talking.
So, what did these Tottenham fans have to say about Fabrizio Romano’s claim on Gedson Fernandes?
“Great news, if true.”
“Hi gedson do u want dropping off at the airport pal”
Fernandes’ deal with Benfica has until the summer of 2023 left on it and the midfielder currently has a market value of £12.15m according to Transfermarkt.
Would it be the right decision for Spurs to let Gedson Fernandes go?
No, he's a good player
Yes, he's not good enough
“Any news related with Gedson is just boring. If we don’t need him at all, just so be it, not interested in hearing his deal at all”
“They need him as they are currently 1-0 down but nah I feel for gedson, there is talent in there but not given minutes”
Since signing on loan for Tottenham, the 22-year-old middleman has made 14 first-team appearances for Spurs, in which he has neither scored nor assisted a goal.
During the current Premier League campaign, the Benfica loanee has not made a single appearance for Mourinho’s side.
“shame it never worked out for him. wish him all the best in the future”
“He’s going to go and be quality in that league. All he needs is someone who believes in him.”
As can be seen in these responses from Spurs fans, there was a mixed reaction from them following Romano’s claim on Gedson Fernandes.
