Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have recently flocked to a social media post which was shared on Instagram by English midfielder Dele Alli.

In recent months, transfer rumours have been hanging over the 24-year-old middleman’s head due to his lack of game time so far this season (per BBC).

One club that has been linked with a move for Alli on loan is French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who were also supposedly interested in the Englishman in the summer.

Amid the rumours, the former MK Dons man shared a story on his Instagram account of him looking bored and staring into the camera (via Daily Hotspur).

The story was picked up by Football.london, which claimed that it was a ‘cryptic’ message as he was not brought off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Fulham and the image was shared within 30 minutes of full-time.

After the story was shared by Daily Hotspur, lots of Tottenham fans flocked to it to air their reactions.

So far this season, the Englishman has featured in just 75 minutes of Premier League action over four games in the top flight, in which he has neither scored nor assisted a goal (per WhoScored).

His performances have been poor, too, as he has been Tottenham’s worst-rated player in the league with a 6.11/10 average rating.

As can be seen in these responses from Spurs supporters, many of them sympathised with him following his post on Instagram.

Given the timing of his post, it is clear why some fans believe the image points towards deeper-rooted problems at the club, with Alli’s indirect message perhaps encapsulating the mood at Spurs, who have now only won once in their last six league fixtures.
