Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning Lilywhites winger Steven Bergwijn.

This comes after Spurs-focused Twitter account @LastWordOnSpurs shared a post on their page relaying a claim made by The Guardian that Bergwijn is expected to start in the north London club’s Premier League clash against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this update.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say about Bergwijn and their match against Leeds?

“Does a great job defensively but offers nothing going forward”

@MrChrisKyriacou

“Big L coming our way then. Smh.”

@mrmarch__

“He offers absolutely nothing in terms of quality in the final third”

@LezemoreJames

“Can this guy just return to full fitness and form we all know he can be better we have seem him better than he is so why is not where we need him to be ?”

@Zwelihlekhuzwa2

“Bergwijn and dele starting we are le finito”

@thfcmada_

Great… another attacking player that doesn’t score or set up goals. I’ll look forward to seeing him”

@johnwil83346352

Spurs signed the winger, who is currently valued at £25.2 million, back in the 2020 January transfer window from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven for a fee of £27 million.

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Spurs fans are not crazy about the idea of Bergwijn starting against Leeds.

Would you select Bergwijn to start against Leeds?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In terms of being an attacking outlet for Spurs, the 23-year-old has yet to score or provide an assist for the club in the Premier League yet after 10 appearances, which could be why these Spurs fans would not want to see him start against Leeds.

In our view, if he does start against Leeds, Bergwijn should use this game as an opportunity to show Mourinho that he can be a useful attacking threat for the team and should be a regular starter.
