Tottenham Hotspur owner Daniel Levy reportedly won’t finalise any potential departure for Dele Alli until a replacement is signed in the January transfer window according to The Mirror.
Alli has previously emerged as a transfer target for French side PSG, although it remains to be seen as to what stage Mauricio Pochettino’s side are at in terms of negotiations with the 24-year-old over a deal.
The former MK Dons youngster has made 12 appearances this season for Spurs, who are currently sat sixth in the Premier League table under the management of Jose Mourinho.
It is also claimed by The Mirror that Spurs’ number one transfer target before the end of the month is former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international made 305 appearances in his first spell with Spurs, but has found game time hard to come by with Inter Milan this term, having been restricted to just five starts in their Serie A campaign.
This has seen him linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur before the conclusion of the January transfer window, although it seems as though any potential agreement for the 28-year-old will hinder PSG’s move for Alli at this moment in time.
Plenty of Spurs supporters took to social media to issue their thoughts on this latest update from The Mirror.
Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below….
“He’s our no.1 target? We had him, let him go and now we are working on getting him back. Geeez. What a circus. Just keep Dele, play him. He’s the future!”
“Thats nuts. Why would they do that? Send one problem out to bring another back in?”
“I don’t particularly want Eriksen back but we desperately need some creativity in that midfield. 1 day to fix that problem, which could define our system.”
“If Dele isn’t going to play then what’s the point?”
“Be easier and cheaper to just play Alli and let him actually return to form.”
“Please no, I can see this happening on deadline day though.”
“Not what we need.”
“Make it happen then.”
“How backward is this club, we sell the player but want him back on loan”
“Please no, I can see this happening on deadline day though”
“Bring him home, let Dele go and find his form again, them bring him home with Poch next season.”
