Image for Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to image of Matt Doherty

Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to a recently emerged image of Spurs full-back Matt Doherty, which originated from Sky Sports.

This comes after Spurs podcast Twitter account @LastWordOnSpurs shared a post on their page that contained an image of the Irishman from the club’s recent 3-0 win over Leeds United in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

The image shows Lilywhites manager Jose Mourinho looking at Doherty after the defender was shown a red card in the closing stages of the match against Marcelo Bielsa’s side after receiving a second yellow card.

In the caption to their post, the podcast page used the phrase “a picture paints a thousand words.”

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this image.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say about this image of Doherty and Mourinho from the Leeds win?

“Doherty getting his contract terminated”

@thfcmxrk_

“That’s you missing loads of games ..”

@emma98957691

“I’m not mad, I’m disappointed”

@CareyLynch84

“Dud signing man.”

@whoisadamshaww

“This is how I look at Doherty every single game…”

@alexclift27

“Yikes.”

@Spurs_Daily

Looks angry”

@siames_viking

“Oh no doherty”

@usniddin05

Spurs signed Doherty back in the previous summer transfer window from fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £15.12 million.

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that they think this image of Doherty and the red card he picked up against Leeds means he could be out of the team for a while, or even out of the club permanently.

Do you think Spurs should get rid of Doherty this month?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the 28-year-old has only just arrived at the club, it would seem unlikely in our view that they would get rid of him just for getting a red card.
