Duncan Castles has been speaking on the latest edition of The Transfer Window podcast about news from various Premier League clubs.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

One club that he mentioned was Tottenham Hotspur, and he provided an update on Gareth Bale’s situation at Spurs.

The Welsh international made a return to north London in the last transfer window but has struggled for game time, particularly in the Premier League, where he has only managed 160 minutes.

Castles seems to believe that while Bale is happy, he is not training hard enough, and that is one of the reasons he is out of the team.

He said: (16:50)

“What I am hearing is that the level of performance at the training ground isn’t particularly impressive and people feel he is not putting in sufficient effort on the training ground to fight his way into the team.”

Does this worry you?

Yes, it can't be good if he isn't training hard

No, it probably isn't true

TIF Thoughts on Bale’s situation…

If this is true, then it is worrying that Bale is not fighting hard enough in training after Spurs gave him a chance to save his career that had stagnated at Real Madrid.

Indeed, since the 31-year-old has re-joined Tottenham, he has only made 12 appearances in which he has scored just three goals and not provided a single assist.

So, it doesn’t look great for Bale at the moment, and if Castles’ claim is true, then we are concerned that Bale is not working that hard in training.

Luckily for him, Tottenham still have plenty of games left in their season, and hopefully, he can turn this all around.
