Lots of Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been discussing 22-year-old left-back Jamal Lewis’ performance in the Toon’s latest Premier League game versus Aston Villa.

Lewis has been a regular member of Newcastle United’s starting XI this term, so it may not have come as a huge surprise to fans of the North East club that he started this game at Villa Park.

Before kick-off, Newcastle reporter Andrew Musgrove of ChronicleLive shared that he was fearful Lewis, along with right-back Javier Manquillo, would fail to provide adequate service to Toon centre-forward Andy Carroll in this game.

Per ChronicleLive, the full-back duo did manage to send some crosses into the penalty area in the 19th minute which were cleared by Villa’s backline.

However, Lewis did notably help the Villans to get a goalscoring opportunity at the other end in the 48th minute by sending the ball across his own box, with Douglas Luiz poking the ball wide.

So, what have these Newcastle United fans been saying about Lewis?

Many Newcastle supporters would seemingly feel that Musgrove was right to have concerns about Lewis, as the £13.5m-rated man has been heavily criticised for his performance in this game on Twitter, with some Toon fans slating his quality.
