Liam Kennedy has been speaking on the latest edition of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith about all things relating to Newcastle United.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

One of the topics that was discussed was potential transfer dealings from the Toon, with Newcastle just one of many Premier League clubs who have not made one signing yet.

This led to a brief discussion on transfers, and it seems as if the Toon are expecting a quiet transfer window.

He said: “Do I think Newcastle United will sign anybody this window? The word from the club is no – that’s the word from the club.

“They’re going to have to get rid of some players; there’s talk of Emil Krafth leaving – that would free up a place in the squad, and that would allow them to bring somebody in on loan.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s transfer business…

It looks like Newcastle have told Kennedy that they are not expecting to do any business in this transfer window and in truth, they are not alone in the league as many other clubs have so far done nothing.

There is still time for that to change, but this transfer window does seem to be very quiet.

However, other teams in the league are not in as bad form as the Toon are, so maybe their rivals don’t need to consider signing anyone else.

Certainly, Newcastle are on a dreadful run, and with Mike Ashley fully backing Steve Bruce, you would think that maybe he would get some signings to ensure his side aren’t dragged into a relegation battle.

However, if Kennedy is right, it doesn’t look like the Toon will be making any signings and we just hope that they have enough to stay up for the Newcastle fans’ sake.
