Newcastle United fans have been reacting with much positivity following a message by Allan Saint-Maximin on social media.

A loss to Leeds United at St James’ Park stretched their run without a win to 11 games in all competitions, a stretch that has seen them drop down the table, leaving them now just two places and seven points above the relegation zone with the teams below them having games in hand to catch up.

One bright spark from the game though was the brief appearance of Saint-Maximin, as he continued his comeback from a recent injury by coming on for the last 25 minutes. And taking to social media after the game, the Frenchman sent out a one-word message ‘Frustrating’.

However, whilst the fans might be sharing that frustration towards head coach Steve Bruce, that wasn’t the feeling they shared with the winger, as they felt encouraged by his brief cameo and seemed to be pinning a lot of hope that he’ll get them out of this predicament on him moving forward:

“Allan you made the difference when you came on. You gave us hope, a spark but we need a new leader to help restore some pride to this team. Good luck in the next games”

“Improved massivly when you come on, nice to see you from the start, keep the faith lads we need you all digging in more then ever”
“You were amazing out there today Maxi made a real impact . Head up French king”
“How good were you though... We now have a hope.”
“You’re telling us Allan! Only glimmer of hope in that second half was when you came on and actually tried to support Callum!”
“You really turned the game on it’s head today Maxi, keep working on that fitness and you’ll lift the whole team, We’re all behind you, we all support you”
“He’s finally realised what it’s like to play for Newcastle united”
“Put a transfer request in . Deserve much better than Bruce and Mike Ashley”

Do you think Newcastle have missed Saint-Maximin?

Yes, we need him back

Yes, we need him back

No, we have been fine without him

No, we have been fine without him
Although with only five goals and eight assists in 41 games for the club, you suspect that’s more out of hope than expectation.
