Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been sharing their criticism for Miguel Almiron after his performance during their recent 2-1 defeat against Leicester City.
After previously picking up a point against Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers’ side travelled to St. James Park for the Tyneside club’s first fixture of 2021.
During the match, lots of Newcastle fans were tweeting their thoughts on Almiron’s performance against the Foxes, with many not being too pleased with what they saw.
So, what did these Newcastle fans make of Almiron’s performance against Leicester?
“When Joelinton or Almiron run through with the ball I have zero faith that they are able to thread a ball through to Wilson. Both are terrible on the ball. Sure they both work hard, but they’re in the team to provide an attacking threat. 60m for both, what a total shambles #nufc”
“I’ve defended Almiron for a long time but I’m starting to lose my patience with him now. It’s not his fault..he tries, he runs. He’s just really not that good. The MLS is lower Championship standard defending, we shouldn’t forget that. They made him look like Messi. #NUFC”
“How the hell does #Almiron get picked to start? #NUFC have looked much better since he went off and looked good on Wednesday when he didn’t start. #NewcastleUnited #SteveBruce”
“Get rid of almiron useless player Murphy way better”
“Almiron has contributed nothing of note.”
“Almiron was really starting to look like a player a while back but he’s gone right back now. Looks clueless #NUFC”
“Almiron offered very little again #nufc”
Looking at these tweets from this group of Newcastle fans, it’s apparent that they were not impressed by what the 26-year-old had to offer on the pitch against Leicester.
Do you think Newcastle should get rid of Almiron?
Yes
No
With the Chronicle Live giving Almiron a match rating of 5/10 for his performance against Leicester saying that he “worked hard defensively but offered little at the other end with no crosses and no shots,” this proves that these Toon fans were fairly accurate with their criticism of him.
