Easy one to get us underway, in what month during 2019 was Steve Bruce appointed Newcastle manager?

The article contained comments made by Toon manager Steve Bruce, who revealed that the club are trying to tie Clark down with a new deal to keep him at St. James’ Park, with Bruce saying that “discussions are ongoing” with Clark’s agent on the matter.

This post from Starforth then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this news.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say about this news on a potential new deal for Ciaran Clark?

Newcastle signed the defender back in August 2016 from fellow Premier League club Aston Villa for a fee of £5.4 million. Since then, the 31-year-old, who is currently valued at £4.32 million, has made 99 appearances for the Tyneside club in which he has managed to score 11 goals and provide three assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Looking at the replies to Starforth’s post from this group of Newcastle fans, it’s clear to see that they would be very happy to see Clark sign a new deal with the club. This shows that they admire him and see him as a valuable member of their squad.

Given how Clark has managed to earn himself a respectable season rating of 6.86/10 for his Premier League performances so far this season, it’s understandable why the club would want him to remain there for the foreseeable future.
