A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Mark Douglas in which he relayed news from Fleetwood Town concerning Joey Barton.
The Chronicle reporter briefly summed up what the League One club said as they confirmed that the former Toon player had left his role as the manager of the club with ‘immediate effect.’
This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans who want Barton to replace Steve Bruce.
“I dont agree with everything Barton has done. But he always gave his all when playing for NUFC. Take him over Bruce right now.”
“It’s either a misdemeanour or he’s coming to Newcastle – or both”
The former Newcastle midfielder took charge of 128 matches as Fleetwood boss in which he won 54 and left the club in tenth place, three points off the play-off places.
Would you take Joey Barton over Steve Bruce?
Yes, can't be any worse
No, would rather Bruce
This post continued to draw in Newcastle fans who had their say on this news.
“Replacing Steve Bruce?”
“Wow strange a wonder why.”
“Get him in”
Given that Barton doesn’t have the greatest relationship with Mike Ashley, we feel it is unlikely that he will be returning to Tyneside as the manager of Newcastle under this current regime.
He has also only ever managed at League One level, so the jump up to the Premier League might be too much for him at this stage.
However, that didn’t stop these Toon fans from demanding to see Barton in to replace Bruce.
