Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has recently provided some information about the future of Jesse Lingard at Manchester United.

Sheth appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast and the panel talked about multiple potential transfers in the English game. They also talked about the situation of Jesse Lingard and what the future might hold for the Englishman. Sheth revealed that Lingard looks set to stay at Old Trafford till the summer transfer window.

Lingard was linked with a move to French side Nice in recent weeks. It was reported that about half a dozen clubs were interested in him. More than that, Celtic and Rangers had also drawn links with a move for the Man Utd midfielder. He had also attracted interest from abroad. He is currently valued at £9 million.

On the podcast, Sheth revealed that Lingard looks set to stay at United till the summer and his future will be assessed then.

He said: “[It is] increasingly likely that Lingard will stay at United until at least the summer, when his future will be reassessed. Nice and Real Sociedad’s interest was through Lingard’s representatives, but it appears now both of those clubs have cooled that interest.”

TIF Thoughts on Sheth’s comments on Lingard…

Lingard is yet to make a single Premier League appearance for the Red Devils this season having only played in the FA Cup and the League Cup for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men. The 28-year-old has played only 179 minutes of first-team football in the campaign (as per Transfermarkt).

In the Premier League last season, Lingard had picked up a poor rating of 6.3/10 for the Red Devils (as per WhoScored). It shows that his quality has dropped and because of that, it would be good for Man Utd to move on from Lingard as soon as possible.
