Dan Morgan, Joel Rabinowitz, Mark Wakefield and Ollie Connolly discussed all of the latest Liverpool news on a recent edition of Liverpool.com’s Blood Red podcast and Rabinowitz shared some concern over the likelihood of Fabinho suffering an injury at some point before the end of the season during the show.

This comes after Fabinho, a natural defensive midfielder, per Transfermarkt, has been deputising at centre-back for the Reds for the majority of this season, with the Merseyside club experiencing something of an injury crisis in this area of the pitch, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all sidelined at present.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

Rabinowitz predicted that the Reds’ centre-back injury problems may get worse during this podcast, as he warned the club to prepare for Fabinho to join the growing Anfield injury list at some point, citing the fact that the Brazil international has had injury issues in each of the three seasons he’s been at Anfield, 2018/19, 2019/20 and already in 2020/21, since joining Liverpool from Monaco for £40.5m

He said: “No one seems to be talking, at the moment, about Fabinho and the possibility of him getting injured – and I know you can’t predict these things, but it’s almost like we’re taking for granted the fact that he’s just going to be there as a constant for the next five months. The thing is, he’s not had a full season at Liverpool; he’s always had at least one injury.

“Everyone’s talking about the centre-back problem now as if he’s going to be there and we just need someone to partner him to get through this season, and I think my concern at the moment is if this season’s told us anything, it’s that you can’t just rely on that.”

Do you think Fabinho will get injured before the end of the season?

TIF Thoughts on what Rabinowitz had to say about Fabinho…

In addition to the fact that Fabinho offers Liverpool an option at centre-back, a position in which they are light on options right now, you could argue that the on-field contribution of the Brazilian, who is currently valued at £54m, per Transfermarkt, in terms of his performance, has been significant for the Reds this term.

Per WhoScored, Fabinho has made more tackles per game (2.3) and made the third-highest number of passes per game (78) – while maintaining the third-highest pass accuracy percentage (91.9%) – of any Liverpool player in the Premier League this term.

With that in mind, it may be understandable why Jurgen Klopp claimed that an injury to Fabinho would be devastating for his squad earlier this year and why Rabinowitz shared concern about that possibility during this podcast.

So, hopefully, for fans of the Merseyside club, the journalist is wrong and Fabinho can stay fit for the remainder of the season.
