Supporters of Leeds United have slated Illan Meslier for his performance in the defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
During the latest round of Premier League fixtures, the whites travelled to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and were beaten 3-0 by Spurs (per Premier League).
The scoring was opened by Harry Kane from the penalty spot and Heung-min Son made it 2-0 shortly before the half-time break.
Jose Mourinho’s side then restarted the second half as they had ended the first, as Toby Alderweireld added to their tally to put the game out of sight.
Due to his performance in the game, lots of Leeds fans took to social media to criticise Leeds’ French goalkeeper.
So, what did these Leeds fans have to say about Illan Meslier’s performance against Spurs?
“At what point does someone put their hands up and say its too early for meslier to have the number one Jersey and look for a replacement? His time will come but just not yet. #LUFC”
“We need a new goal keeper it’s easy to see Meslier isn’t prem standard by a long way”
Do Leeds need a better goalkeeper than Illan Meslier?
No, he's a solid player
Yes, he's not good enough
“Meslier may be good enough in the future but we seriously need a new keeper. Letting villa get Martinez in the summer was a big mistake. Positioning is shocking half of time stood behind his line”
“Meslier is one of the worst keepers leeds have had”
So far this season, the 20-year-old ‘keeper has featured in every minute of Leeds’ matches in the Premier League having played in all 17 games (per Transfermarkt).
In those outings, the Frenchman has managed to keep a fairly impressive tally of six clean sheets, however, he has conceded 33 goals in the 11 games which he has not kept a clean sheet.
“Surely it’s time to give Casilla a chance in goal because meslier is making too many schoolboy errors and is conceding too many goals.”
“Meslier beginning to look a bit broken. #lufc”
“Meslier having a nightmare”
As can be seen in these responses from Leeds fans, many of them were not happy with the performance of Meslier in the 3-0 defeat against Spurs.
