Supporters of Leeds United have recently reacted to a report on Jean-Kevin Augustin that was relayed by Graham Smyth.

In a recent report by RMC Sport, Nantes boss Raymond Domenech shared an update on the former Whites attacker.

The manager said: “Augustin is not ready yet but I am behind him and he is trying and hanging on.

“I knew a player who had power, who accelerated and who went fast. I found a player who does not have the ability to repeat the efforts. But it has already been better for four or five days.

“He is at 30 or 40 per cent of what he can do. There is still work to be done and it will not happen overnight, but he showed desire. We will help him return to his best level. I hope to have him at my disposal as soon as possible.

These comments were picked up by the Yorkshire Evening Post and shared on social media by Smyth, which had lots of Leeds fans talking.

During the 2019/20 season, the Whites had the French forward on a half-season loan from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig (per Transfermarkt).

Should Leeds have signed Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig?

During his spell on loan with the Whites in the Championship, the 23-year-old striker made just three league appearances for Leeds, in which he neither scored nor assisted (per WhoScored).

His performances were poor, too, as he earned a weak 5.96/10 average rating, making him the club’s joint-worst-performing player in the league alongside Mateusz Bogusz.

As can be seen in what these Leeds fans had to say, many of them seemed to be pleased that the club had not signed Augustin permanently, however, legal action is still looming over the Whites because they did not (per The Athletic).
