Supporters of Leeds United have called for Marcelo Bielsa to start young midfielder Jamie Shackleton against Tottenham Hotspur.

In a 12:30pm kick-off today, the Whites travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Jose Mourinho’s Spurs (per Premier League).

Heading into the clash, Leeds Live have claimed that Bielsa has a ‘selection dilemma’ on his hands as Mateusz Klich is a doubt and the Argentine manager is ‘never one to risk his players’ fitness’.

That led the news outlet to claim that Shackleton or Pablo Hernandez are the two ‘realistic options’ for the Whites to deploy should Klich be absent.

This report was shared to Leeds fans on Facebook on the Leeds United Live page and it had lots of supporters calling for Shackleton to start.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say about Jamie Shackleton?

So far this season, the 21-year-old Englishman has made eight appearances in the top flight for the Elland Road club, in which he has neither scored nor assisted a goal (per Transfermarkt).

Who should start today if Klich is unavailable?

The Polish midfielder who is a doubt for the game, Klich, has made 16 league appearances this term and earned a solid 6.81/10 average rating (per WhoScored).

That has made the 30-year-old middleman the 10th-best performer in Bielsa’s squad.

However, Shackleton has delivered far worse performances over his outings in the top flight as he has picked up a weak 6.26/10, making him the joint-third-worst performer in the side.

Despite the young midfielder’s weak average rating, though, it is clear to see that lots of Whites fans would like to see the £2.07m-rated Englishman start against Tottenham.
