The Athletic’s Everton correspondent Greg O’Keeffe has aired his belief that the Toffees’ owner Farhad Moshiri would fund a transfer this month if there is reason to do so.

During the summer transfer window, the Merseyside outfit spent £67.38m on incoming transfers as they sealed the arrival of six players (per Transfermarkt).

Four of those players the club paid fees for, with one arriving on a free transfer – James Rodriguez from Real Madrid – and one on loan – Robin Olsen from Roma.

Following those arrivals, the Toffees have made a strong start in the Premier League, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side sat fifth, four points off Manchester United at the league’s summit (per BBC).

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s Gwlad Tidings podcast, O’Keeffe aired his belief that Moshiri would fund a further squad improvement if Ancelotti desired.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

He said: “Everything just feels wonderfully open at the moment for the league in general, but certainly for Evertonians.

“You just wonder, is this the opportunity? A bit of [a] leveller.

“I wouldn’t rule out – even though financially it’s harder than ever, knowing what Farhad Moshiri’s like – if there’s an opportunity and Carlo goes to him and says, ‘Look, I think this player’s going to make a massive difference.’

“If it’s doable, I wouldn’t rule out Moshiri trying to make it happen.”

TIF Thoughts on what the journalist said about Farhad Moshiri…

As can be seen in what the reporter had to say, he believes that Everton’s owner would fund a transfer this month if Ancelotti believed the player would make a big difference.

Do Everton need to sign someone this month?

Looking at Everton’s squad, it would seem that the right-wing position could be a key area for Ancelotti to fill should he be looking at bringing someone in.

While the Toffees have as many as seven players capable of playing in that position, not one of them is a natural right-winger (per Transfermarkt).

So, perhaps a player in that position could give the Toffees a little extra edge in attack.
