Speaking recently on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano discussed the interest in Everton winger, Bernard.

Since arriving at Everton from Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer back in 2018, Bernard has so far gone on to feature 76 times for the club, chipping in with seven goals and providing seven assists along the way.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

However, this season, the £13.5 million-rated 28-year-old has found game time hard to come by under Carlo Ancelotti, starting just two Premier League fixtures for the Italian’s side, leading to speculation regarding the Brazilian’s future at the club.

Indeed, reports have suggested that AS Roma are keen on a move for the winger, with it being said that Bernard could become part of a swap deal in the permanent transfer of Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who is currently on loan at the Toffees.

However, speaking on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, Romano claimed that there is not much to these reports at present, as well as stating the figure that Everton would be looking for in order to part with Bernard.

He said: “[There are] a lot of rumours because [Paulo] Fonseca, the manager of Roma, likes the player, but at the moment, Roma have not [made] any bid to Everton. Everton are still waiting, because if they sell Bernard, anything can happen with [their] new signings.

“So, we have to understand what’s going on. But at the moment, there is nothing advanced with Roma. He’s one of the options, but not the first one and Roma are still waiting to make a bid.

“What I want to add is the price. They want €10 million to sell Bernard, so let’s see in the coming weeks if someone will arrive with this kind of bid or loan with an obligation to buy, but this is the price – €10 million.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments regarding Bernard…

From Romano’s comments, it would indeed appear that Roma are interested in the idea of purchasing Bernard in January, however, there has been no offer from the Serie A side as yet.

The journalist also reveals that Everton are looking for €10 million (£8.9 million) in order to sell the Brazilian, although, in our opinion, it is not difficult to imagine this price being negotiable, as simply being relieved of the winger’s reported weekly wage of £120,000 – the 28-year-old is Everton’s joint-highest earner – would be extremely beneficial for the club.
