Football podcaster Dougie Critchley has been sharing his praise for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze.
This comes after Critchley recently made an appearance on Football Daily’s Sunday Vibes Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics surrounding the Premier League.
During the podcast, Critchley was asked whether he thinks Eze is good enough to play for England’s senior national team.
In response, Critchley had this to say on the matter. (32.24)
He said: “I’d probably say it’s a little bit early for that, just because I think [there are] players that are ahead of him right now, but have I been impressed with him this season? Yeah, I think he’s been absolutely awesome.
“I think Roy Hodgson really used him quite effectively. I don’t think he threw him in at the deep end too early.
“But since he’s come in, I think he adds so much more and you can see that Wilfried Zaha really likes playing with him as well, there’s so much interchange with them. They almost look kind of competitive with each other, but in a really helpful way and I think Eze’s been awesome.”
Palace signed Eze, who is currently valued at £16.2 million, back in August last year from Championship side Queens Park Rangers for a fee of £16.02 million.
Since arriving at Selhurst Park, the 22-year-old has gone on to make 17 appearances for Palace across all competitions in which he has managed to score two goals and provide two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
TIF Thoughts on Dougie Critchley’s comments on Eze…
Given how Eze has earned himself a solid season rating of 6.84/10 for his performances in the Premier League, making him Palace’s fourth-highest rated player so far in this campaign, it’s not hard to see why Critchley has been sharing this praise for the midfield man.
Do you think Eze is good enough to play for England?
Yes
No
In our view, if Eze can continue performing well for Palace consistently, there’s no reason why he can’t go on and play for the senior England side at some point in the future.
