Dharmesh Sheth has been speaking on the latest edition of Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast with Tom Williams and Pete Graves about transfer news from various different clubs.
One team that was briefly mentioned was Crystal Palace who are apparently interested in signing Demarai Gray, but it looks like he is going to sign for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen instead.
Sky Sports claim that Leicester City have agreed a fee with Leverkusen for the transfer of Gray, but it seems as if Palace are waiting to see if the deal falls through.
And, that his move to Leverkusen has since been announced.
Sheth said: (39:13) “Demarai Gray has entered the final six months of his contract and is free to speak with foreign clubs. Gray has agreed personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen.
“It is now up to Leverkusen to try and do that deal or get him on that pre-contract. I think they want to hurry this one up because if they do neither, there are other clubs who are interested in Demarai Gray, including Crystal Palace.
“So, they’re lurking in the background in case Leverkusen can’t get this one over the line.”
Do you think Palace will sign Gray?
No, not a chance
Yes, it is possible
TIF Thoughts on Gray’s chances of joining Palace…
Given that the Bundesliga side have agreed a fee and also personal terms, then it doesn’t look like the Eagles have much hope for completing a deal for Gray.
However, time is running out for the Bundesliga side to sign the 24-year-old in this transfer window and while he still hasn’t actually signed for Leverkusen, there is always a chance for Palace.
The former Birmingham City man, who is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, has barely featured for the Foxes’ first team this season and it looks like Leicester are trying to get a fee for him before his contract expires in the summer.
Despite their interest though, we can’t see Palace signing Gray as the Leverkusen deal seems so far advanced.
