In-the-know journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently discussed the future of Aston Villa’s star attacker Jack Grealish.
Since then, he has gone on to make 205 appearances for the Midlands club, in which he has bagged 32 goals and provided 41 assists for teammates.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, as cited by TEAMtalk, his form for Dean Smith’s side has earned the attacker an admirer in Manchester United, who remain keen.
So, during the latest episode of the Edge of the Box Podcast, Romano discussed Grealish’s future at Villa Park.
He said: “At the moment, there is nothing advanced with Grealish, just because Aston Villa want to decide next summer and not right now. So, they have no advanced discussions with any club.
“I also saw links with Manchester City and other clubs and, for sure, this player is [liked] by many clubs and appreciated by these top clubs because we are talking [about] one of the best players in the world, in my opinion, in this moment. Really underrated, but I really like him.
“At the moment, there is really nothing advanced with these clubs. It is also important to understand that if we will be in the same situation with football next summer – so, with no fans in the stadium, with no guarantees about sponsors and these kinds of things, it would be really difficult for clubs like Manchester United to spent €100m for [Jadon] Sancho, €100m for Grealish, really, really difficult.
“If we will be back in normality, with fans in the stadium and everything, for sure, we can consider this kind of move.
“We will see what kind of team would make the right bid, but at the moment there is nothing advanced. The links are true, just because many clubs are following this player.”
TIF Thoughts on what Fabrizio Romano said about Jack Grealish…
As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes that there is “nothing advanced” with Grealish at the moment and a departure may depend on football returning to normality.
Do you think Grealish will still be an Aston Villa player at the beginning of next season?
No, he will leave us
Yes, he's loyal to us
This will likely come as a bit of a relief for Villa fans that nothing is close, because he has been a key component for them so far this season, having been their best-performing player in the league and had a direct hand in 14 goals (per WhoScored).
