Aston Villa journalist Mat Kendrick has been sharing his thoughts on Villa striker Keinan Davis.

This comes after Kendrick recently made an appearance on the latest episode of the Birmingham Mail’s Claret & Blue Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.

First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

On the subject of Davis, who has been linked with a loan move away from Villa Park this month, Kendrick had this to say. (22.30)

He said: “Listen, Keinan Davis the player today is a million miles from the player Villa signed. I think he’s made improvements to his game, but I think if Keinan Davis wants to look back over his career in 10 year’s time and say how many goals have I scored, how many games have I played? What have I achieved?’ I think he’s going to have to do it in the Championship.”

Davis joined Villa’s U18 side back in 2015 from Biggleswade Town on a free transfer. Since then, the 22-year-old has gone on to make 74 appearances for Villa’s senior side in which he managed to score five goals and provide six assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Mat Kendrick’s comments on Davis…

With Davis only having made four league appearances for Villa so far this season, maybe joining a Championship team on loan this month where he’d be able to get some regular playing time could be a big benefit for the Englishman.

Do you think Villa should loan out Keinan Davis this month?

Yes

No

However, with Villa only having Ollie Watkins as their other available striker with Wesley not back from injury yet, the club would presumably rather keep hold of Davis for the time being.

Also, with the Birmingham club having four league games left to play before the end of the month, there’s every opportunity that Davis will get some playing time in that period.
