In what month did Mikel Arteta take over as the Arsenal boss?

One club that was mentioned quite heavily was Arsenal as the pair discussed potential signings for the Gunners and one man who was mentioned was Norwich City’s, Emiliano Buendia.

The Argentine is said to be under consideration by the Arsenal hierarchy (as per Fabrizio Romano via Daily Express), and it seems like Newson thinks he would be a good signing for Arsenal.

He said: “I really like Emi Buendia, I thought he was very good last season in a pretty bad season for Norwich.

“I think his underlying numbers last season in a very poor team were pretty impressive, in terms of chances created.

“So, in that respect, it’s a logical transfer target for Arsenal. He shouldn’t cost an astronomical fee, given that Norwich are a Championship team.

“It’s a transfer that might not excite Arsenal fans in the same way as if a player was coming from a Real Madrid or a Barcelona – but so much of squad building is finding the right player rather than necessarily by reputation or where they are coming from.

“If there’s a hole for him in the Arsenal team, which there does appear to be, then it’s a deal they should seriously consider.”

TIF Thoughts on Buendia moving to Arsenal…

The 24-year-old, who is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, has been in sparkling form for the Canaries this season as they have raced to the top of the Championship table and he has scored seven goals and provided six assists for Norwich.

Even last season as Norwich finished bottom of the Premier League Buendia still provided seven assists across the whole season, so pretty impressive numbers in a poor team.

Arsenal have struggled for goals this season with only a few teams scoring less than them, so we think a move for Buendia could be sensible and we agree with Newson that the Argentine could help the Gunners.
