The Express & Star reporter Joseph Masi has recently shed light on the “recruitment drive” West Bromwich Albion are undertaking in the January transfer window.
During the summer transfer window, the Baggies sealed the arrival of nine players at The Hawthorns, two of which were on loan and the other seven permanently (per Transfermarkt).
The player who was brought in for the highest fee was Karlan Grant, who arrived in the Midlands from Huddersfield Town for a £14.85m fee.
With Sam Allardyce’s side currently sat six points inside the Premier League’s relegation zone (per BBC), though, it is clear that further additions are needed.
In the latest episode of the Express & Star’s Baggies Broadcast, Masi discussed the January transfer window and claimed there is a “recruitment drive” in full swing.
He said: “I don’t know [when the first additions will come in]. All I know is that they’re working round the clock and there [are] constant names being bandied around.
“The recruitment drive is well and truly underway. I know everyone knows that, but it does feel, even for me, it does feel very frantic. There is an awful lot happening.
“Obviously, Sam revealed after the game that he’s missed out on three players because of Brexit, but things are really moving – they’re really, really moving.
“Allardyce keeps saying he needs time on the training ground, so they do need to bring in players sooner rather than later.”
