West Bromwich Albion reporter Joseph Masi spent some time talking about all of the latest West Brom transfer news during the most recent edition of The Express and Star’s Baggies Broadcast podcast

One position that Albion boss Sam Allardyce is said to be keen on strengthening this month is the centre-forward position. That may be understandable when you consider that only two teams have scored fewer top-flight goals than the Baggies (15) this term and centre-forward Charlie Austin left the club to join Queens Park Rangers on loan earlier this month.

To kick off this quiz on Matheus Pereira, from which Portuguese club did Albion sign the playmaker?

On the topic of West Brom’s striker pursuit, Masi shared that one player, which the journalist later revealed to be Benfica’s Haris Seferovic via Twitter, is “very, very high up on the list of targets” at The Hawthorns.

He said: “We’ve probably got a 10:30 [article] tonight, with the name of a striker that, from what I understand, Albion are very interested in. It’s going to be a very difficult deal to do, I have to say, I think it might be unlikely, but I think this striker is very, very high up on the list of targets. So that’ll come out at 10:30 tonight.”

TIF Thoughts on what Masi had to say about West Brom’s interest in Seferovic…

While Masi did indicate that he thinks it will be difficult for the West Midlands club to secure the £9m-rated striker’s signature, it would seem as though the Baggies are very keen on signing the experienced forward, who has as many as 70 caps for the Swiss national team under his belt, based on the journalist’s comments during this podcast.

Seferovic has scored seven goals in 11 appearances for Benfica in Portugal’s top-flight this term, which is three more goals than West Brom’s top league goalscorer, Matheus Pereira, has bagged this season.

So, with that in mind, it may be understandable why West Brom would be keen on signing the 28-year-old, as it seems like he could boost their striking options and it will be interesting to see if this is a deal that the West Midlands club can get over the line.
