Supporters of Leeds United have been reacting to a post that was shared on Instagram by French goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

During the latest round of Premier League fixtures, the Whites fell to a 1-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road (per Transfermarkt).

Starting between the sticks for Marcelo Bielsa’s side was Kiko Casilla, though, with Elia Caprile as the substitute goalkeeper.

After the lineups for the game had been announced, Leeds’ French stopper shared a post on Instagram discussing his absence that was shared on Twitter by Phil Hay.

He said: ‘Sorry to miss today’s [game,] behind you all the way boys. Thank you to the fans for all the support, I’m recovering well. Please stay safe. See you soon #MOT #LUFC’

After this was relayed on Twitter by Hay, it had lots of supporters talking.

As can be seen in these responses from Leeds fans, many of them were concerned after Meslier shared the post regarding his absence on Instagram.

And, they were right to be concerned as Leeds ended up losing 1-0 to Graham Potter’s side.
