Many Leeds United fans have been discussing a tweet from Phil Hay that recently emerged on social media.

Hay recently issued an injury update involving the Whites ahead of their FA Cup game against Crawley Town on Sunday. The journalist said that Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente are available for selection on Sunday, even though Marcelo Bielsa is cautious about Llorente’s fitness.

He also said that Tyler Roberts remains out due to injury and despite that, Bielsa will not weaken the side too much for the FA Cup game.

Hay’s tweet caught the attention of many Leeds fans, who began talking about the injury update.

What did Leeds fans make of this tweet from Phil Hay?

“Excellent news that. Back to a decent defence for the next Prem game then.”

“Very good news that they’re back, I personally would give them another week just in case.”

“It’s about time we took this competition seriously. We are only 5 wins (max) away from staying up and we are equipped to beat any side on our day (and if the top ones are on an off day). Would be huge if we could win it. Let’s give it a real go.”

“Well. This is a clear statement that Bielsa wants to win this. Can’t fault that”

“Would have liked Greenwood or Gelhardt to be off the bench at least. But I do like how Bielsa respects the competition. This isn’t the League Cup after all.”

Llorente has made just one appearance in all competitions for the Whites this season and it came in the club’s Premier League defeat to Chelsea. As for Cooper, the Scotsman sustained an injury in Leeds’ 6-2 defeat to Manchester United last month.

As for Roberts, the youngster has played only 237 minutes of Premier League football this season and has been linked with a move to the Championship. Some other Leeds fans also flocked to the update from Hay.

“Makes sense , if you include the Liverpool game, Leeds is 0-3-1 when there has been a longer break then 7 days in between games. Delicate balance between over worked and under the worked.”

“Ideal. Get some time between CB pairings Love to see shack and Poveda start. Would be interested to see Rodrigo up front and Bambo on with 30 minutes to go to press them into the ground.”

A lot of these Leeds fans are happy about the fact that they have Cooper and Llorente back fit and they are also happy that Bielsa seems to be taking the FA Cup seriously.

Leeds last won the FA Cup back in 1972 but they haven’t gone beyond the third round of the competition since the 2016/17 campaign. In fact, they last reached the semi-finals way back in the 1986/87 campaign (as per Transfermarkt).

Given they had taken so long to reach the top tier of English football in what is a truncated campaign, for Bielsa to essentially declare he will be taking the competition seriously when you would imagine preserving their league status would be their main priority is clearly a big deal for these Leeds fans.
