Fans of Celtic have taken to Twitter in order to criticise Nir Bitton’s performance against St Johnstone.

Since arriving at Celtic from FC Ashdod in what was a £738k deal back in 2013, Bitton has gone on to feature 224 times for the Bhoys, chipping in with 12 goals and providing 14 assists along the way.

So far this season, prior to the St Johnstone fixture, the £1.08 million-rated 29-year-old had featured in five Scottish Premiership fixtures for Neil Lennon’s side, making an average of 1.4 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game, culminating in a WhoScored match rating of 7.04 – ranking him as Celtic’s ninth-best player in the league.

However, the Israel international came under fire for his display in the St Johnstone fixture, with many Celtic fans taking to Twitter to slam the player.
