On Thursday night at the San Siro, Celtic were soundly beaten by AC Milan and it was another dreadful experience for their defence.
Even worse, it was another unconvincing performance from Vasilios Barkas, the keeper they paid big money for in the summer.
One of the alternatives to Barkas was Celtic fan favourite Fraser Forster, who has had two spells at the club and was instrumental in last season’s successes.
However, Forster opted to remain in England, and Celtic went with Barkas.
Celtic have tried their stand-in keeper Scott Bain for a while, but a number of less-than-stellar displays from him saw Barkas restored to the number-one spot – but the Celtic fans are less than impressed with him and many have hung their hopes on a move for Forster again in January.
@_GreenBrigade_ give lenny a break… the board should have said to Fraser Forster – Here is £4.5M for 1 season. Should have kept Craig Gordon and offered him proper wages.. 27 goals conceded in 10 games @CelticFC

We got him from Greece too . . . and many of the great philosophers come from there . . . asking WHY?
The big question as to a more simple thought is WHY DID WE?
Questions about Fraser Forster must arise and when is it best to invest as opposed to speculating?

This would, of course, effectively represent a complete loss of faith in Barkas, and Celtic would be as good as writing off the transfer fee they paid for him.
At a time when money is tight because of the global health emergency, this isn’t likely to go down well with the board.
Not all Celtic fans are convinced either…
Can’t believe there are Celtic fans wanting Fraser Forster back after him choosing Southampton over Celtic TWICE. He doesn’t want to be part of our club.

Enough with the Fraser Forster, it is getting a bit embarrassing now, he had his chance and decided to stay at a club where barring injury to the first choice keeper he won’t get any game time, time to move on. A whole new back four is needed, Not just a keeper.

Even pundit and ex-Celt Chris Sutton isn’t convinced that it can be done.
“If Celtic couldn’t make a deal happen then, how can they now? Especially given £5 million was frittered away on his replacement,” he wrote in the Daily Record.
Talk that Celtic might sign a ‘keeper is probably on the money given the dissatisfaction in the ranks, but Forster would represent a major outlay and completely disenfranchise Barkas, who the club have on a long-term deal and will have to find some way of getting something from.
