Many Celtic fans have been discussing a post about Craig Gordon that recently emerged on social media.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Gordon was recently talking about his Parkhead exit in the summer transfer window. In an interview with BBC Sport, Gordon said that there is no bad blood between himself and Celtic and his exit from the club wasn’t messy at all.

The Scotsman said that while the Hoops wanted to go down a different route, he wanted regular first-team football. Gordon believes that if Celtic had brought Fraser Forster back in the summer, he would’ve had to play second fiddle to him and that wouldn’t have been acceptable to him (as per BBC Sport).

Ahead of his cup final clash against the Bhoys this weekend, a post about these comments was relayed on Facebook by Celtic News Now recently and it drew the attention of many Hoops fans.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

Gordon’s contract at Celtic had run out in the summer transfer window and he later joined Hearts on a free transfer, returning to the club where he first came to prominence. He is currently valued at £585k.

Celtic missed out on Fraser Forster in the summer and they were linked with re-signing David Marshall too, before eventually spending £2.95 million to sign Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens.

Gordon’s comments, though, caught the attention of Celtic fans.

These Celtic fans believe that the Hoops shouldn’t have let Gordon go and the club made the wrong decision in doing so.

Having said that, Neil Lennon now has a total of three goalkeepers at his disposal. Vasilis Barkas has featured and so has Scott Bain. More recently, Conor Hazard has featured in the first team as well. Because of that, the Hoops have enough goalkeeping options in the team and it made sense for them to let Gordon go.
