Pundit Alan Rough has recently defended Neil Lennon and his position at Celtic.

Rough appeared as a guest on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed multiple issues involving Scottish football and the Bhoys. Rough defended Lennon and believes that Celtic should ‘look at the bigger picture’ and keep the manager in the job.

Following Celtic’s loss to Ross County in the League Cup, fans protested outside Parkhead. Soon after, Neil Lennon had been in a meeting with the club’s board to discuss his future, with the outcome a positive one for the boss. The club’s hierarchy is still backing Lennon to turn things around at Parkhead.

Rough believes that despite the recent poor run of results, Lennon should be given more time at Celtic.

He said: “I thought he should be given time. You can’t defend the last 10 results, there’s no doubt about that, but as I said yesterday, if you put the last 10 results to the back burner and look at the bigger picture, which is 22 games in the season, he’s lost six – four of them have been against European sides and one’s Ross County and Rangers, that’s the way I look at it.”

TIF Thoughts on Rough’s comments regarding Neil Lennon…

Going by Peter Lawwell’s recent comments, it seems as if Celtic are sticking with Lennon for the time being. Having said that, the club have already been knocked out of Europe and out of the League Cup. The loss to Ross County ended a run of 35 cup wins for the Hoops. The fact that the club is 11 points behind Rangers and that they have won only two of their last 10 games in all competitions prior to their midweek clash suggests that things aren’t quite right at Parkhead right now.

There have been suggestions that Lennon has lost the club’s dressing room and if that’s the case, the players might not be eager to play for him. So if Lennon has lost the dressing room, perhaps getting rid of him soon would be a good option for the Bhoys.
