Pete O’Rourke has been speaking on a recent edition of Touchline Talk with Dean Jones about news concerning clubs in England and Scotland.
One of the teams that he spent a little bit of time on was Celtic, and he revealed that Eddie Howe, according to his information, will not be taking the Celtic job should it become available.
Neil Lennon is under intense pressure at the moment, with violent protests taking place at the weekend demanding his removal as boss after a dreadful run of form that has seen the Bhoys win just one of their last nine games.
Howe has been linked, but if O’Rourke is correct, then he won’t be taking over from Lennon should the board decide to get rid of him.
He said: “My understanding is Eddie Howe would not take this job.
“He’s been out of work since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season, but I don’t think his ambitions right now are to go up to Scotland.
“He’s probably waiting on a Premier League job to become available, still, we haven’t had any managerial casualties in the Premier League, so Eddie Howe is probably biding his time waiting for that right opportunity, and I don’t think he sees that as Celtic right now.”

Howe did a fantastic job with Bournemouth over two spells as he dragged them from League Two to the Premier League and then kept the Cherries in the top-flight for five seasons, so he did a brilliant job with them.
Many Bhoys fans are keen for Celtic to appoint Howe, but he has never managed in Scotland, and he might not understand why winning a tenth Premiership title in a row will mean so much to the Bhoys.
So, though he is a good manager who has achieved a lot with Bournemouth, we actually don’t think it would be too bad if he weren’t interested in taking the job, as O’Rourke claims, and they might be better off finding someone else.
