Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham discussed potential replacements for under pressure Celtic manager Neil Lennon on a recent edition of Hoops-focused podcast A Celtic State of Mind and they spent some time talking about the possibility of ex-Celtic manager Gordon Strachan returning to Parkhead during the show.
Strachan, who managed Celtic from June 2005 until May 2009, winning three Scottish top-flight titles, one Scottish Cup and two Scottish League Cups, is one of the names that has been linked with the Parkhead hot seat with current Celtic boss Lennon coming under fire from some members of the Hoops’ fanbase and while discussing the possibility of the 63-year-old returning to Celtic to replace Lennon during this podcast, Graham shared some uncertainty about the likelihood of Strachan accepting the job.
He said: (1:07:54) “I don’t think Strachan would come back. Would he come back in, as well, over Neil? He’s very faithful that way – he might not like the way that he would get the job.”

Strachan was full of praise for current Hoops boss Lennon as recently as this past summer, with the 63-year-old claiming that the Northern Irishman has “reinvented himself” and proven that “he can deal with anything” following his return to Celtic in 2019, so with that in mind, perhaps Strachan would be in favour of Lennon not being sacked just months after he made those positive comments about the manager.

Additionally, while Strachan does currently work as Dundee FC’s technical director, he hasn’t managed a club since his time as Scotland manager ended back in October 2017, so could his days in the dugout be over?
It remains to be seen if Celtic do sack Lennon due to their poor run of form and whether or not Strachan would be on their list of potential replacements for the 49-year-old, however, it would appear as though there are plenty of signs to suggest that the ex-Hoops boss may not be in line for a return if Lennon gets the sack.
