Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest update involving Mark McKenzie that recently emerged on social media.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph recently tweeted an update about Celtic’s interest in the American defender. His tweet stated that McKenzie is currently open to moving to Parkhead, if the Hoops look to sign him in the January transfer window.
Should Celtic be desperate to sign McKenzie?
Yes
No
The defender has informed Joseph that he has been studying about the Premiership and he is someone who admires Virgil van Dijk’s journey.
This tweet about the Celtic target caught the attention of many Hoops fans, who began talking about the update.
What did Celtic fans make of this update about Mark McKenzie?
The one who got away. I really hope we manage to sign him in January but with the interest from the Prem and Budesliga could be unlikely. https://t.co/pm2Oncckpa

An article on Sky Sports, which has been written by Joseph himself, had some quotes from McKenzie. The defender said that he is very proud of the interest in him and he made it clear that he wants to play at a high European level in the future. He said that his goal is to play in the UEFA Champions League (as per Sky Sports).
McKenzie was named in the MLS Best XI and MLS Is Back XI last season. The tweet from Joseph caught the attention of some other Celtic fans too.

Clearly, many Celtic fans want their club to sign McKenzie in January. Shane Duffy hasn’t had a great time since arriving at Parkhead, while Hatem Abd Elhamed is said to be looking to leave in January because of personal issues.
So considering these issues, Celtic might need another defender next month. Since McKenzie was named in the MLS Best XI last season, perhaps the Hoops should look to sign the 21-year-old.
