The Athletic’s Wolverhampton Wanderers correspondent Tim Spiers has lauded a recent performance from Spanish winger Adama Traore.

In the Old Gold’s latest outing in the Premier League, they picked up an impressive 2-1 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium (per BBC).

During the clash, Traore played the full match for Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit.

For his performance in the victory away from home, the Spaniard was awarded a solid 7.05/10 performance rating, making him Wolves’ fourth-best player on the day (per WhoScored).

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers discussed a number of players following the win against Arsenal and singled Traore out for praise.

To kick off this quiz on Romain Saiss, what squad number does the defensive midfielder currently wear for the Old Gold?

He said: “There were so many roles to highlight in [Daniel Podence’s] goal but I’m going to pick out Traore because, again, we’ve given him a bit of stick.

“[He’s had] no assist since June, that remains the case, but those two goals don’t happen without him.

“The way he turns [Granit] Xhaka, he turned him into curd basically, he absolutely did a 360 [degree turn] with him.

“Traore, the tenacity he shows, the strength, the awareness to then play that ball as well, I was so impressed with that.”

TIF Thoughts on Tim Spiers’ praise of Adama Traore…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes that the Spaniard was vital for the two goals that Wolves scored and, in particular, the second goal.

Have you been disappointed with Adama Traore so far this season?

However, as stated by Spiers, the 24-year-old winger has not provided a single assist in the Premier League for the Old Gold so far this season (per WhoScored).

Furthermore, he has been less creative for Wolves this term compared to the 2019/20 season as he has managed just 0.9 key passes per game, whereas in the previous campaign he managed 1.3 key passes per outing.

So, hopefully, the winger’s impressive performance against the Gunners is indicative of Traore returning to his form from last season.
