The Athletic’s Wolverhampton Wanderers correspondent Tim Spiers has discussed the recent speculation on the eventual return of Raul Jimenez.
During the Old Gold’s 2-1 win against Arsenal, the Mexican frontman suffered a fractured skull which then had to be operated on (per Wolves).
It has since been revealed that following his surgery, the 29-year-old attacker has left hospital and returned home (per Birmingham Mail).
With a fractured skull, the injury can be career-ending, which is what happened with former Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason after suffering a similar injury in 2017.
However, on Jimenez, Nuno Espirito Santo revealed that he is confident that the attacker will play football again (as per The Sun).
In the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers discussed the comments from Nuno Santo on Jimenez’s eventual return.
He said: “I think [Nuno Santo’s comments will] be very much from a medical perspective. They’ll have spoken an awful lot to Dr. Matt Perry.
“We spoke with Don Goodman last week about the different severities you can get with fractured skulls, so I would say, with all the positive talk coming out of Wolves, that hopefully, it’s down the lower end of the scale.
“Attention will soon turn as to when he can come back and play, hopefully.
“We don’t [know details of the fracture] and we probably won’t get those kinds of details for some time and, frankly, it’s none of our business, is it?
“As long as he’s at home and recovering, that’s all we need to know for now.”

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes Nuno Santo’s speculation on Jimenez playing again eventually will be following discussions with the club’s doctor.

With the £36m-rated man having netted an impressive tally of 47 goals and 18 assists in 110 appearances for Wolves (per Transfermarkt), Jimenez will be a welcome return for the Old Gold when he can do so.
Furthermore, he has been Wolves’ fourth-best performer in the Premier League this season with a 6.91/10 average rating (per WhoScored), so he is clearly a key player.
However, it is great simply to hear that the player is recovering well at home and, hopefully, he can make a full return to fitness for Wolves.
