On the topic of West Brom, Crook had this to say on Allardyce and the work he has ahead of him at the Hawthorns. (38.50)

He said: “This is a massive task that Sam Allardyce has taken on and I think the only reason he’s taken this job is because he was so desperate to get back in [to management].

“I think he knows it’s an uphill struggle to keep West Brom in the Premier League. I think he knows they’ll probably go down without significant investment in January.”

West Brom appointed Allardyce as their new manager after sacking Slaven Bilic earlier in the month.

Allardyce’s first match in charge of the Baggies saw them lose 3-0 at home against Aston Villa which saw club captain Jake Livermore pick up a red card after lunging challenge on Jack Grealish. The team performance against Villa earned West Brom a disappointing rating of 6.16/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts on Alex Crook’s comments on Allardyce…

Having got his spell with West Brom off to a poor start with their defeat against Villa and with the club now sat in 19th place in the league table with just seven points after 14 games played, Allardyce definitely has a massive job on his hands to try and get the club out of the relegation zone by the end of the season.
